Fibreglass Laminator / Fibreglass Repair Technician (Marine Composite Structures)
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Fibreglass Laminator / Fibreglass Repair Technician to join our marine repair facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for the structural repair, restoration, and finishing of fibreglass and composite components used in marine pleasure craft.
Key Duties and Responsibilities

Inspect marine pleasure craft hulls, decks, and structural components for damage, cracks, delamination, and wear

Perform structural fibreglass repair on boats using composite materials such as fiberglass mat, woven roving, epoxy, and polyester resins

Prepare damaged surfaces by grinding, sanding, cleaning, and shaping areas for repair

Apply fibreglass layers, resin, and reinforcement materials to restore structural strength

Mix, apply, and cure gelcoat and finishing compounds to match original surface finish

Conduct mould repair, patching, and surface refinishing on composite marine structures

Operate hand and power tools including grinders, sanders, spray equipment, and laminating tools

Ensure repaired components meet safety, structural integrity, and quality standards

Perform final inspection and finishing work to ensure smooth surface, alignment, and water-tight integrity

Maintain a clean and safe working environment, following workplace safety and hazardous material handling procedures

Document repair work and materials used as required by the employer
Employment Requirements

Secondary school diploma or equivalent preferred

Experience in fibreglass repair, composite fabrication, or marine repair environment
-
Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and composite materials safely

Knowledge of fibreglass lamination, resin systems, and gelcoat finishing

Ability to read repair instructions, diagrams, and work orders

Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity
Working Conditions

Work is performed in indoor workshop and outdoor marine yard environments

Exposure to dust, resin fumes, noise, and variable weather conditions

Physical work requiring standing, bending, lifting, and repetitive manual tasks
